The Positioning Slide has been designed for use with chairs with an aperture between the seat and the back, most commonly wheelchairs. The Positioning Slide makes it much easier to position someone fully back in the seat, which can be a problem when hoisting someone into the chair, particularly if this is being done by a single carer.
The Positioning Slide is made from a low friction material, allowing for ease of movement. There is a strong handle at one end which allows the carer to use their foot, so that they can use both hands to stabilise the person being moved.
Once the person is in the desired position, the Positioning Slide must be removed – this is not a One Way Glide and will slide forwards as well as backwards. To remove, pull the bottom layer through the aperture at the back of the seat, as this will minimise the friction experienced by the person sitting on it.
Another product that offers a similar function is the Etac Swan Glide Pad.
In addition to seated positioning, both these products can be used with a transfer board to assist with seated transfers.
